The Carmen Story
Carmen the Cornstalk
I remember one stormy period it’s as though I could continually hear the Farmer’s voice reassuring me that He loved me and I could trust Him. I know this sounds corny, but the farmer told me I was the apple of his eye. I guess that means because I’m His, He will never leave me or turn His back on me.
I had stabilized in who I was. As I followed the farmer’s ways I realized he had given me the ability to not only impact others, but to spread seeds called pollen all around me. This pollen was scattered and blown around by the wind every day. I knew the spreading of the pollen was the Master’s plan.
One day to my surprise I saw the pollen germinate and a cob formed and hundreds of little kernels were beginning to take shape. More kernels would carry on a legacy and bring glory to the master.
Bringing glory to the Master was my deepest longing.
The days continued to get shorter. The nighttime temperatures were dropping lower and lower. I knew it was just a matter of time and the frost would come. I was ready for the frost. I was ready to go. I was at the end of a season in my journey and was ready to meet the farmer, face to face.
I could hardly wait!! I had no guilt regarding my life as a plant. I knew the farmer wanted me to grow. What a fulfilling life!! As a seed, I sinned against the farmer many times, but He promised me, He would forgive me and He would never hold those things against me.
I had responded to the Master, lived for Him, allowed Him to use me to impact others and produce a great number of “kernels” for the Master’s army and for His glory.
So was the life journey of a kernel of corn that died to old ways, began a new life, grew in strength and maturity, leading to a great impact and reproducing of much grain.
